Penn Alumni Clubs Service Global Challenge

In November 2009, Loretta Evans met with Penn Club of Philadelphia President, Andrew Rosenthal, on Penní»s campus and decided to challenge our clubs to a day of service. The MLK Day of Service in January celebrated on campus would be the ideal day for us to begin we believed. We decided to invite other clubs to join us on our day of service challenge.

The response from other Penn clubs was great. Clubs around the world were doing all kinds of great things in their local communities and had been doing it for years in many cases. Only a few clubs do events in January at the same time. Service goes on year round in numerous Penn clubs globally.

We are proud to post events from our first Day of Service Challenge from the Penn Club of Philadelphia, Penn Clubs of Westchester and Rockland Counties and the Penn Club of Beijing. Many thanks to Andrew Rosenthal and Sharon Mulholland for their participation.

We will have more events in the future and the challenge will continue. Penn Clubs around the world are always invited to share their Day of Service event photos with us here. We will continue to post ours. The Penn Club of Beijing really enjoys feeling connected as it works to improve our community as other clubs do the same around the world.

Alumni from the Penn Club of Philadelphia paint a school in West Philadelphia as part of the MLK Day of Service.

Alumni from the Penn Club of Beijing visit the Dongba School to donate science books the requested and some of our favorites we thought they would enjoy. See more about the Penn Club Day of Service here.

Below are photos of the bowling/pizza event with the kids of The Pleasantville Cottage School and the new admits to Penn. It was a terrific success. The students all mingled and the kids of the Cottage School thoroughly enjoyed their day with the Penn Clubs of Westchester and Rockland Counties.
